Feedback Forum

Hey folks.

Just thought I'd attempt to get a little dialogue going for feedback on DC layout, organization etc. I've gotten some positive feedback and a few suggestions--Michael Barach said,
'I will say though that I like it better when stories/poems/articles are typed. Typed stuff is easier to read, and, for us superficial people, it has a certain level of authority that I like.'
Also, some have commented that you wish the photos weren't so dark. I wish they weren't either. I had trouble lightening them on the copier, but next time will maybe try to tweak them in photoshop(if they are sent digitally) before printing. That should help. It's really important--particularly for next issue, since there will probably be a lot of photos.
Please comment if you have any other ideas/suggestions and we can exchange ideas and talk about how to accomodate them.
THANKS!

Scratch 'n' sniff stickers in one issue would be fun.

I guess that means I have to find some scratch 'n' sniff stickers now, doesn't it?

I really like the cut & paste style of issue 3.

i was reading that post about zines a few back, and was wondering how people would feel about making this more zine-esque. usually, there aren't a lot of rules (none) for zines, but most of them have more of a book layout. this would involve making submissions fit on half a page, but as far as putting them together, would just involve a bit more stapling. so maybe this is more a question for em. what do you guys think?

Jill and all...
I think that's a great idea. Abbi and I talked a little bit about
making the D.C. a half-page book style format. It might be a little
too late to implement this time(though it still could be done...), but what about for Issue 5? You could design your own half page, or make sure that your entry will fit on a half page. Let me know what you
guys think--It'd take some more formatting planning, but I'd be happy to give it a try, if you want.

Also, do we want to do a map issue for Issue 5? Or the one after?
Half-page format might not work for the map issue.

Be thinking of ideas for an audio issue as well.

I have to say I'd like the D.C. to have book layout too. However, I understand it would take more planning for the layout.
Another request that could be implemented if there was a book layout: it would be nice to have a little color for each issue. Maybe ribbons or yarn to bind it? Just a little color would spice up the aesthetic.
I liked all of scrambled cutting and pasting especially on the what are we reading and what are we listening to pages.
